4. 780-113 (a) (30) Possession with the intent to deliver
5. 780-113 (a) (16) Possession of a controlled substance
DETAILS OF INCIDENT:
On November 4, 2022, at 2:29 AM, Amity Township Police Department were detailed to 61-A Hemlock House, Amity Garden Apartments, Douglassville, PA, relative to a suspected drug overdose of a male victim. The victim was officially declared deceased at 3:31 AM, by Berks County Coroner’s Office. A search of the descendant’s belongings and residence revealed evidence of illegal drug use, and related paraphernalia was present at the scene.
On November 5, 2022, Amity Township Police Department teamed up with Berks County District Attorney Detectives and initiated a death investigation. Detectives utilized various law enforcement techniques and identified Ashley Ann Pupek as the supplier of the illegal narcotics, which led to the descendant’s tragic death.
On November 7, at 12:30 PM, an autopsy was performed by Forensic Pathologist Doctor Neil Hoffman at the Reading Hospital and Medical Center.
On March 20, 2023, the Berks County Coroner’s Office generated the final report relative to the death of the victim. The report indicated that toxicology results from the blood drawn from the body revealed the decedent’s cause of death as Acute Toxicity by Fentanyl.
On June 6, 2023, detectives obtained a warrant of arrest for Ashely Ann Pupek. The warrant was issued by District Judge Steven M. Chieffo.
Pupek was taken into custody today at her residence and transported to the Berks County Sheriff’s Department Central Processing Center. Pupek was arraigned and bail was set at $150,000. She remains incarcerated at Berks County Jail.
As in every criminal case, the fact that an arrest occurred or a complaint has been filed is merely an accusation, and the defendant, Ashley Ann Pupek, is presumed innocent until and unless proven guilty.
