Mission Statement
The Berks County Jail System is intended to establish a secure institutional environment that serves to provide protection and safety for the citizens, staff and the legally incarcerated of Berks County.
This will be accomplished through the use of a cost-effective organization and procedures that provide for security, social restoration and (re)habilitation in the jail environment.
Objective Statements
The following objectives have been established to accomplish the mission, within the budgetary and staffing constraints imposed on the facility:

**Important Notice to Families**
We want to make all family members aware of a scam currently targeting individuals with incarcerated loved ones. Many families have reported receiving calls from individuals claiming to be associated with the jail or other agencies, requesting money to release incarcerated individuals onto an electronic monitoring system or transfer them to another facility.
Please be advised that these calls are not generated from our facility. We urge all families to verify any information relayed to them about their loved ones.
If you receive such a call or have concerns, please do not hesitate to contact the District Attorney's Detective Division at 610-478-7171 for further assistance.
Your safety and trust are our top priorities. Thank you for your attention.
