Taxing authorities can file an appeal on your property
A school district or other municipality may file an appeal of the tax assessment on your property.
The School District or other municipality is likely seeking to increase the amount of your tax assessment.
If your assessment increases, the amount of your real estate taxes will increase.
You will be notified of a hearing before the Berks County Board of Assessment Appeals on the appeal.
If you desire to participate in the appeal, you should immediately consult a lawyer or plan to participate in the hearing.
You are warned that if you do not appear at the hearing before the Berks County Board of Assessment Appeals, your tax assessment may increase resulting in liability for higher real estate taxes.
If you do not have a lawyer, you can contact the Berks County Bar Association Lawyer's Referral Service, 544 Court Street, Reading, PA 19601, 610-375-4591.
