ALERT! Berks County South Campus Closed Monday, October 5: The Berks County South Campus will be closed to staff and the public on Monday, October 5, to complete a scheduled electrical utility project. The South Campus Building will be without power from 8 am to 5 pm while Met-Ed conducts this work. For safety reasons, no one will be permitted to enter or access the South Campus building for any reason between 8 am to 5 pm on October 5.

The County appreciates the public’s understanding and apologizes for any inconvenience this temporary closure may cause.

Unclaimed Checks

The unclaimed check (ESCHEAT) file consists of outstanding accounts payable checks issued to vendors of the County of Berks. To claim an outstanding check the Berks County Controller’s Office must be notified by calling 610-478-6150 ext. 6151 or by mail to the following address:

Upon notification a letter will be sent with further instructions.

Commonwealth of Pennsylvania requires by statue all checks after 3 years of issuance are turned over to the state. Below are the dates when the records will be transferred.

If Berks County Controller’s Office is not notified before the transfer date, vendor follow-up should be directed to the Commonwealth of Pennsylvania. 

Individuals can access their funds directly through the county or Pennsylvania Treasury Department. Agencies/individuals may offer to secure the monies for a fee or commission but that is not necessary.
