DETAILS OF INCIDENT:

The Berks County District Attorney's Office announces the arrest of Kyle Lamar Lane, 33, of Reading, Pennsylvania, following a drug trafficking investigation conducted by the Berks County District Attorney Drug Task Force.

The investigation culminated in the service of a sealed search warrant and the seizure of multiple pounds of methamphetamine, drug trafficking paraphernalia, and U.S. currency believed to be the proceeds from illegal sales.
On Monday, July 6, 2026, investigators obtained judicial authorization to search the second- and third-floor apartments located at 351 South 5th Street, Reading, Pennsylvania, as well as for the person of Kyle Lamar Lane and associated electronic devices.
Later that day, while conducting surveillance, investigators observed Lane leave the residence and walk into the 500 block of Bingaman Street. Officers approached Lane, at which time he attempted to flee on foot, discarding a cellular telephone and approximately one pound of a substance that field-tested positive for methamphetamine.
As a result of the search, the following items were seized:
  • Approximately three additional pounds of a substance that field-tested positive for methamphetamine;
  • Packaging materials, two functional digital scales containing residue, a razor blade, a scooper, and other equipment commonly used to process and package bulk methamphetamine for street-level distribution; and
  • $10,543 in U.S. currency.
The estimated street value of the seized methamphetamine is approximately $54,000.
As a result of this investigation, the above-listed charges have been filed against the Defendant.
"This case reflects the continued commitment and teamwork of the Berks County Drug Task Force in combating the distribution of methamphetamine throughout our community. Seizing bulk quantities of methamphetamine, along with the tools used to process and package these dangerous narcotics, disrupts drug trafficking operations and helps make Berks County a safer place to live and work."

Lane was transported to the Berks County Sheriff's Office Central Processing Center, where he was formally charged and arraigned before Magisterial District Judge Priscilla Campos. Bail was set at $200,000.
As with every criminal case, the filing of criminal charges is merely an accusation. The defendant is presumed innocent unless and until proven guilty in a court of law.
