Emergency Behavioral Health

Emergency Behavioral Health

The purpose of the Berks County Mental Health Plan for Disaster/Emergency Response is to provide procedures to ensure an effective response to the Berks County community after a disaster or emergency. The Program shall respond to emergency or disaster situation when called upon by the Berks County Department of Emergency Services or the American Red Cross. The County Program will also provide assistance to other counties as specified in mutual-aid agreements. Final authority for all actions taken is under the direct authority of the Berks County Administrator. The Administrator is the contact point for disaster/emergency issues of the County at all times. The Emergency Behavioral Health Team is the focal point for disaster/emergency response immediately following the disaster/emergency. This is a team of mental health professionals who have received additional training regarding emergency response. Please feel free to contact the County Mental Health Program if you have any question or if you wish to have a list of disaster resources.
