Electronic Monitoring

Electronic Monitoring (EM) is an effective form of digital surveillance that can monitor a participant’s location, or their blood alcohol level. The use of EM in Berks County assists the Probation and Parole Department with alternative supervision in lieu of incarceration or detention.

Berks County Probation and Parole uses several forms of EM which include GPS monitoring or Secure Continuous Remote Alcohol Monitoring (SCRAM)

Eligibility to be placed on EM is determined by the courts with the recommendation of the Probation and Parole department.
