Alternative Sentencing Units

Alternative Sentencing Units utilize a variety of tools to successfully supervise individuals who have been sentenced to programs such as Treatment Court or Electronic Monitoring. These units work closely with the offender, the courts, and treatment stakeholders to ensure a continuous collaboration that fosters educational and/or therapeutic interventions to reduce recidivism as well as individual case planning for the success of the participant.

The Transfer Supervision Unit and ICOTS are not alternative sentences. However, they require specific management to ensure individuals who are living outside of Berks County are still receiving the services they require and are successfully supervised.
