SSD Macarena, AKA - "Rena"

Rena is a professionally trained facility dog through Susquehanna Service Dogs. As the newest member of Berks County Probation & Parole, Rena has offices in both Adult and Juvenile Probation. She is trained to assist individuals in Treatment Court and Juvenile Court, during office visits and she is also a department ambassador at community events. Rena's specialties are lessening the effects of stress brought on by addiction issues and mental health illness as well as assisting offenders navigate their rehabilitation and assimilation into the community. As an ambassador, she demonstrates to the community the importance of trauma informed care. 

Rena's partner (handler) is Assistant Chief Eric Burkholder
