Are you Ready to Answer the Call?

The Berks County Department of Emergency Services is recruiting for the position of Telecommunicator - Call-Taker.  A Telecommunicator - Call-Taker receives 911 and 10-digit calls from the public and accurately assigns their request(s) for police, fire, emergency medical, or other allied public safety resources to the appropriate dispatcher or agency.  Additionally, the call-taker completes administrative work related to the job functions.

This is an exciting career with competitive pay and excellent benefits including medical, dental, vision, and a fixed benefit pension.

After a few months of training, Telecommunicators are assigned to a platoon where they will work 12-hour shifts with a close-knit team of professionals.  Employees have 7 days off in 14 (compare to 4 off in a traditional 8-hour job), including every other weekend off.  Telecommunicators require no prior experience (although any emergency services experience is a great benefit).

However, candidates must be mature, team-oriented, extremely responsible with an outstanding work ethic, and able to work in a fast-paced and high-stress environment.

If you are mature and serious about your work ethic, want to do something that will challenge you regardless of your background, and want to work in a role that literally helps people every single day, we would like to entertain your candidacy.
